By accepting our quotation, paying a deposit or instructing us to carry out work, you agree that these Terms and Conditions form part of the contract between us.

These Terms are written in accordance with the laws of Scotland and the applicable consumer legislation of the United Kingdom.

Nothing within these Terms affects your statutory rights.

3.1 All quotations remain valid for thirty (30) days unless otherwise stated.

3.2 Quotations are prepared using information supplied by the Customer during surveys, telephone discussions, emails or online enquiries.

3.3 Any quotation is based upon the volume of goods declared by the Customer.

3.4 Should additional items be added before or on the day of removal, we reserve the right to:

  • revise our quotation
  • provide a larger vehicle
  • arrange an additional vehicle

postpone the removal where necessary.

3.5 Where access arrangements differ from those disclosed when the quotation was prepared, additional charges may apply.

Examples include:

  • multiple flights of stairs
  • restricted parking
  • long carrying distances
  • lifts unavailable
  • restricted vehicle access

  • plumbing works

4. Booking Confirmation

4.1 A booking is not confirmed until Kingdom Removals Ltd has received written acceptance of the quotation together with any required deposit.

4.2 We reserve the right to refuse bookings until payment has cleared.

4.3 Once confirmed, the agreed removal date will be reserved exclusively for the Customer.

5. Deposits

5.1 A deposit may be required to secure your removal date.

5.2 Deposits are non-transferable unless agreed by us in writing.

5.3 Where the Customer cancels within ten (10) days of the removal date, the deposit will normally be forfeited.

5.4 If Kingdom Removals Ltd is unable to carry out the removal due to circumstances entirely within our control, any deposit paid will be refunded in full.

6. Payment

6.1 Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment of the outstanding balance must be received no later than the day before the removal.

6.2 Storage charges arranged through third-party providers are invoiced separately where applicable.

6.3 We reserve the right to withhold unloading or delivery until cleared funds have been received.

6.4 Interest may be charged on overdue invoices at four percent (4%) above the Royal Bank of Scotland base lending rate together with any reasonable recovery costs permitted by law.

7. Customer Responsibilities

The Customer agrees to:

  • provide complete and accurate information regarding the goods being moved
  • disclose unusually heavy, valuable or fragile items before the removal date
  • ensure that all goods belong to them or that they have authority to move them
  • ensure all pathways are reasonably clear and safe
  • ensure suitable parking arrangements where required
  • obtain any parking suspensions, permits or permissions needed for the removal
  • ensure pets are safely secured
  • empty refrigerators and freezers before loading
  • disconnect washing machines, dishwashers and similar appliances unless specifically agreed otherwise
  • remove all food from cupboards where appropriate

empty drawers containing loose heavy objects unless agreed otherwise.

Failure to comply may result in delays or additional charges.

8. Goods We Cannot Transport

For safety and legal reasons, Kingdom Removals Ltd will not transport:

  • cash
  • coins
  • jewellery
  • watches
  • precious metals
  • passports
  • driving licences
  • birth certificates
  • wills
  • deeds
  • legal documents
  • firearms
  • ammunition
  • explosives
  • fireworks
  • compressed gas cylinders
  • petrol
  • diesel
  • paint thinners
  • hazardous chemicals
  • corrosive substances
  • illegal drugs
  • controlled substances
  • live animals

dangerous goods prohibited by law.

The Company reserves the right to refuse to transport any item considered unsafe or unlawful.

9. Packing Services

9.1 Where Kingdom Removals Ltd has been contracted to provide a packing service, we will supply suitable packing materials and exercise reasonable skill and care in packing your goods.

9.2 Our packing service is intended to provide appropriate protection for normal domestic and commercial removals. However, no packing method can guarantee that fragile items will remain free from damage during transport.

9.3 Customers should identify any particularly fragile, valuable or sentimental items before packing begins.

9.4 Unless otherwise agreed in writing, our staff will determine the most appropriate packing method for each item.

9.5 Customers should not pack prohibited or hazardous goods within boxes provided by Kingdom Removals Ltd.

9.6 Please identify fragile contents and any special requirements before collection. Responsibility for customer-packed goods is assessed under sections 10, 19 and 21; sealed boxes are not automatically excluded from claims.

10. Customer-Packed Goods

10.1 Where goods have been packed by the Customer, we cannot accept responsibility for damage caused by:

  • inadequate packing
  • overfilled cartons
  • unsuitable containers
  • insufficient internal protection

movement of contents within boxes.

10.2 We reserve the right to refuse to transport boxes that appear unsafe or excessively heavy.

10.3 Customers must use sound containers and packing materials appropriate to the contents, weight and journey, with sufficient cushioning and secured contents. Label fragile boxes and identify orientation where relevant. Tell us if you need packing assistance before the move. The specific requirements for televisions and screens are in section 19A. These responsibilities do not exclude our liability under section 21.

11. Furniture Dismantling and Reassembly

11.1 Unless specifically included within our quotation, furniture dismantling and reassembly are not included.

11.2 Where dismantling has been agreed:

  • reasonable care will be taken
  • existing damage or wear cannot be remedied by us

we cannot guarantee the structural integrity of older furniture after dismantling and reassembly.

11.3 Flat-pack furniture may weaken each time it is dismantled and rebuilt. Kingdom Removals Ltd accepts no responsibility for failure of joints, fittings or fixings resulting from previous assembly, age or manufacturing defects.

12. Electrical and Plumbing Appliances

Unless specifically agreed in writing, Kingdom Removals Ltd does not:

  • disconnect washing machines
  • disconnect dishwashers
  • disconnect gas appliances
  • disconnect cookers
  • disconnect plumbing
  • disconnect electrical installations

reconnect appliances at the destination.

The Customer remains responsible for ensuring appliances are professionally disconnected where necessary.

13. Access to Property

13.1 Our quotation assumes normal access for a removal vehicle.

13.2 Additional charges may apply where:

  • parking restrictions exist
  • access roads are unsuitable
  • vehicles cannot park close to the property
  • lifts are unavailable
  • numerous flights of stairs are involved

excessively long carrying distances are required.

13.3 Customers must advise Kingdom Removals Ltd before the removal if any access restrictions exist.

13.4 Where additional labour or smaller shuttle vehicles are required due to restricted access, these costs may be added to the final invoice.

14. Parking

14.1 The Customer is responsible for arranging any parking suspensions, permits or permissions required unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.

14.2 Parking charges, permits and local authority fees are payable by the Customer.

14.3 Where removal vehicles are delayed due to unavailable parking, waiting time may be charged.

14.4 Kingdom Removals Ltd will not be responsible for parking penalties arising from instructions given by the Customer.

15. Delays

Although every effort will be made to arrive at the agreed time, Kingdom Removals Ltd cannot guarantee exact arrival times.

Delays may occur due to:

  • road traffic
  • accidents
  • severe weather
  • ferry cancellations
  • road closures
  • vehicle breakdown
  • police incidents
  • industrial action

events outside our reasonable control.

Where delays occur, we will keep Customers informed whenever reasonably possible.

16. Property Completion Delays

Where removals are dependent upon the completion of a property purchase or sale:

16.1 Kingdom Removals Ltd cannot be held responsible for delays caused by solicitors, lenders, estate agents or any third party.

16.2 Waiting time caused by delayed release of keys may be chargeable.

16.3 Where delays become excessive, additional labour charges may apply.

16.4 Overnight storage or additional transport costs resulting from delayed completion will be charged where reasonably incurred.

17. Waiting Time

Our quotations allow for reasonable loading and unloading times.

Additional waiting charges may apply where delays are caused by:

  • late availability of keys
  • customers not being ready
  • incomplete packing
  • blocked access
  • delayed property completion

customer requests to suspend work.

Waiting time will normally be charged in hourly increments.

18. Damage to Property

Kingdom Removals Ltd will exercise reasonable care while moving goods.

However, we shall not be liable for damage arising where:

  • furniture cannot reasonably pass through doorways
  • flooring is unsuitable for heavy items
  • concealed defects exist within walls, floors or ceilings

items are moved contrary to our recommendations.

Customers must advise us of any newly decorated surfaces, delicate flooring or special access requirements before work begins.

19. Important, Valuable, Fragile and Specialist Items

19.1 Please help us plan the right protection for your belongings. You must tell us in writing, when requesting your quotation and before accepting it, about any item requiring particular care, specialist handling or protection. This includes every individual item with a reasonable replacement value above £1,000 and the items described below regardless of their financial value. If you learn of a relevant item or requirement later, tell us promptly and before packing or collection, allowing time for us to agree suitable arrangements. Do not leave disclosure until the crew arrives.

  • Antiques, heirlooms, irreplaceable or sentimental items, rare objects and collections.
  • Paintings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, glassware, mirrors, marble and stone furniture.
  • Musical instruments, clocks, specialist equipment and unusually heavy, large or delicate furniture.
  • Televisions, large displays, computers and other delicate electronics.
  • Items with loose joints, fragile veneers, old glue, concealed damage, previous repairs, unstable fittings or particular lifting, orientation, temperature or humidity requirements.

19.2 Email info@kingdomremovals.com with your name and booking reference, an itemised description, approximate dimensions and weight where known, a reasonable current value and the basis for it, photographs where useful, and all known defects, repairs and handling instructions. Explain any special personal importance even where the item has little market value. You are not expected to identify defects you could not reasonably know about. If uncertain, ask us before booking.

19.3 A general inventory, a photograph of a room, a survey or a label saying “fragile” does not replace an explanation of a particular value, hidden weakness or special requirement known to you. Equally, we remain responsible for information you have supplied and risks that a competent removals provider should reasonably recognise. Please obtain our written confirmation of the arrangements; if it has not arrived, contact us before the move.

19.4 We will assess whether specialist packing, a crate, extra staff, equipment, a specialist carrier or separate insurance is appropriate. Any additional work and price must be agreed before it is carried out. Declaring a value does not itself create agreed-value insurance or guarantee replacement at that value. We may decline or postpone an affected item where safe arrangements cannot be made; we will discuss practical alternatives and any reasonable, evidenced costs with you.

19.5 Antiques and restored items may need protection beyond ordinary removal blankets. Tell us about provenance, restoration, delicate finishes, detachable parts and known structural weaknesses, and provide any conservator’s or manufacturer’s instructions. Unless expressly included in our written quotation, conservation work, specialist dismantling, custom crating and climate-controlled transport or storage are not included. Do not tape directly onto delicate surfaces. Secure or separately pack removable parts using an appropriate method, or arrange for us or a specialist to do so.

19.6 Keep cash, jewellery, securities, essential documents, medicines and small irreplaceable personal items with you wherever practicable. Any proposal for us to carry these must be disclosed and expressly agreed in writing before collection. Back up important digital information before equipment is moved and tell us of any special data-related requirements.

19.7 Where you fail to disclose information required by this section, we are not responsible to the extent that loss is caused by the undisclosed characteristic or requirement, which we neither knew nor could reasonably have been expected to recognise, and could not reasonably have avoided while exercising reasonable care and skill. Failure to disclose does not automatically invalidate a claim. It does not excuse our negligence, breach of contract or failure to take reasonable precautions. Section 21 and your statutory rights apply throughout.

19A. Televisions, Large Screens and Protective Packaging

19A.1 Tell us before booking. You must declare every television and display when requesting your quotation, including its diagonal screen size, make and model where known, approximate value, whether it is wall-mounted, and whether you have its original box and protective inserts. Notify us promptly of later additions or changes, before collection. Tell us about OLED, QLED, LED, LCD, plasma, curved, frameless and exceptionally thin displays, and any known faults, repairs or manufacturer-specific handling requirements. Photographs of the screen, packaging and restricted access help us plan suitable protection.

19A.2 TVs must be boxed or crated. Every television and display, including large screens, must be enclosed in a suitable protective transit box or crate before it is loaded. This requirement applies regardless of screen size, age or value. In particular, do not assume that a large television can safely travel loose because it is light, still works or is only travelling a short distance. Its packaging must be appropriate to its actual dimensions, weight and construction.

19A.3 Acceptable packaging. Use either the original manufacturer’s transit box with its correctly fitted protective inserts, or a purpose-made television transit box or crate designed for the particular size and weight of the set, with suitable internal supports and cushioning. An original box with missing inserts, or a damaged, damp, crushed or poorly fitting box, is not automatically suitable. Replacement packaging must provide equivalent practical protection for the particular screen; a box intended for a smaller or differently shaped television is not sufficient.

  • Support and cushion the set at the points specified by its manufacturer, protecting its corners, edges and base without loading the display panel.
  • Prevent the set sliding, tipping or moving within the packaging, without overpacking or creating pressure against the screen.
  • Provide a clean, non-abrasive protective layer and suitable rigid screen protection without direct pressure on the panel.
  • Securely close the box and mark it as a fragile television, with its correct transport orientation clearly identified.
  • Pack cables, plugs, remote controls, stands and fittings separately or in their designated compartments so they cannot strike or press against the screen.

19A.4 Wrapping alone is not sufficient. Removal blankets, duvets, towels, stretch film, bubble wrap alone and loose sheets of cardboard do not replace a suitable box or crate and its internal supports. A “fragile” label does not make inadequate packaging suitable. Do not apply adhesive tape directly to the screen or delicate surfaces, tighten wrapping against the panel, or improvise supports that place pressure on the display. Follow the manufacturer’s packing instructions where available.

19A.5 If you do not have a box. Contact info@kingdomremovals.com before accepting your quotation, or promptly when the issue becomes known, to agree suitable packaging or specialist assistance in writing. Unless our quotation expressly includes supplying the relevant box or crate and packing the television, arranging suitable packaging before collection is your responsibility. A general reference to blankets, protective covers or a removal service does not include specialist TV packing. Do not assume the crew will have a correctly sized box on moving day. Any box, crate, packing labour or specialist service we supply must be confirmed, with its price, in advance of that work. Where we agree to pack the TV, we remain responsible for performing that work with reasonable care and skill.

19A.6 Prepare the television safely. Unless expressly included in our quotation, you must arrange safe disconnection and removal from wall brackets before our arrival. Any specialist electrical work must be undertaken by a suitably qualified person. Remove stands or projecting fittings only as directed by the manufacturer and retain labelled fixings. Do not attempt to lift or dismount a large set alone where its size, weight or instructions require assistance. Tell us about narrow doorways, stairs, lifts and other restrictions; a screen must not be forced, twisted or flexed to pass through an opening.

19A.7 Handling and transport. Large and thin screens need protection from flexing, vibration and concentrated pressure as well as impact. We will follow the manufacturer’s handling and transport instructions and use appropriate staff and equipment. Screens will normally be carried and transported upright in their intended orientation unless the manufacturer specifies otherwise. Loads or securing straps must not press directly against the display, and other goods must not be stacked on the television. Boxing a set does not make it safe to lay it flat or load it in a way contrary to its instructions.

19A.8 Condition before and after the move. Tell us about cracks, scratches, dead pixels, image defects, loose parts, intermittent faults and previous repairs known to you. Where reasonably practicable, photograph the set and show it operating before packing. After delivery, inspect and test it as soon as reasonably practicable, observing any manufacturer-recommended settling or acclimatisation period. Keep the packaging and report concerns under section 24. These steps help establish what happened; a missing photograph, an inability to demonstrate operation or delayed discovery does not automatically invalidate a claim.

19A.9 If packaging is unsuitable on moving day. We will not load a television where we reasonably consider its packaging or the proposed handling arrangements inadequate for safe transport. We will explain the concern and discuss suitable repacking, specialist crating, leaving the affected item safely with you, or an agreed later collection. Additional work and prices must be agreed before proceeding. Any charge arising from a failure to make agreed preparations must be reasonable, explained and reflect costs reasonably incurred; there is no automatic penalty. If we failed to provide packaging or packing that we agreed to supply, this clause does not transfer that responsibility to you. Asking the crew to “take it at my risk” is not a substitute for safe arrangements.

19A.10 Responsibility for loss or damage. Subject to section 21, we are not responsible to the extent that loss is caused by inadequate customer-provided packaging, a pre-existing fault or an undisclosed requirement which we could not reasonably have recognised, provided we have exercised reasonable care and skill. These are not automatic exclusions for every unboxed, customer-packed or older television. We remain responsible for loss caused by our negligence or breach of contract, including our own packing or handling failures. Internal or screen damage is not automatically excluded because there are no visible marks on the box or casing. A customer’s signature does not waive statutory rights.

19A.11 Insurance and declared value. An original box, a declared value or our acceptance of the television does not itself guarantee insurance cover, new-for-old replacement or payment of the declared sum. Any insurance is subject to the actual applicable policy. Ask us before booking for written confirmation of any cover you intend to rely on, particularly for high-value screens. Insurance conditions do not remove our legal responsibility under section 21.

20. Insurance

20.1 Kingdom Removals Ltd maintains Public Liability Insurance and Goods in Transit Insurance appropriate to the services we provide.

20.2 The level of cover applicable to your removal shall be as stated on your quotation or confirmation of booking.

20.3 Customers are strongly advised to arrange separate insurance for jewellery, cash, antiques, artwork, collectibles, sentimental items and any items of exceptional value.

20.4 Unless otherwise agreed in writing, our insurance does not provide "new for old" replacement.

20.5 Insurance is subject to the applicable policy, exclusions and limits. An insurer declining a claim does not in itself remove our legal liability. Please request written confirmation of any cover you intend to rely on before booking.

20.6 You must disclose valuable, important and specialist items as set out in section 19, including items valued above £1,000. The consequences of missing information are assessed under sections 19.7 and 21; there is no automatic forfeiture of your statutory rights.

20.7 If additional insurance cover is requested, this must be agreed before the removal date and any additional premium paid.

21. Our Liability

21.1 We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with our contract. We are responsible for loss or damage caused by our negligence or breach of contract, subject only to lawful and fair limitations. Our insurance arrangements do not determine or replace our legal responsibility to you.

21.2 We are not responsible to the extent that loss is caused solely by normal wear and tear, a pre-existing or inherent defect, deterioration due to age, unsuitable customer packing, or an undisclosed special requirement within section 19.7, and is not caused or contributed to by our negligence or breach of contract. The same approach applies to mechanical or electrical failure, temperature or humidity damage, mould, pests, corrosion and deterioration of food or plants: these are not automatic exclusions where we are responsible for the cause.

21.3 Where more than one factor contributes to damage, we will consider our responsibility for the loss we caused. An undeclared item, customer-packed box, lack of external impact marks or the age of an item does not by itself remove our liability. We will take reasonable precautions in response to risks we know or ought reasonably to recognise.

21.4 Any compensation will be assessed in accordance with the law and the evidence, including reasonable repair costs, value immediately before loss, and any proven remaining reduction in value after repair where recoverable. We do not promise automatic new-for-old replacement or a payment based solely on a customer’s stated value. Disclosure of sentimental importance helps us plan appropriate care but is not an agreement to pay an arbitrary sentimental valuation.

21.5 Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, failure to exercise reasonable care and skill where the law prevents exclusion or restriction, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted. Your statutory rights and remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 remain unaffected. This section takes priority over any inconsistent exclusion or limitation elsewhere in these Terms.

22. Damage to Premises

22.1 Our staff will exercise reasonable care while carrying out the removal.

22.2 We cannot accept responsibility for:

  • cracked paving
  • weak driveways
  • damaged underground services
  • unsuitable flooring
  • overloaded lifts

damage caused where furniture cannot reasonably fit through openings.

22.3 Customers should notify us before the removal of:

  • recently decorated properties
  • delicate flooring
  • underfloor heating
  • loose paving

restricted structural access.

23. Customer Liability

The Customer shall remain responsible for:

  • ensuring lawful ownership of all goods
  • obtaining permission to remove items from rented premises where required
  • ensuring goods are not subject to finance or legal restrictions

losses arising from inaccurate information provided to us.

The Customer agrees to indemnify Kingdom Removals Ltd against any reasonable losses arising from breach of these obligations.

24. Claims Procedure

24.1 Customers should inspect their goods as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

24.2 Any visible damage should be brought to the attention of our crew before they leave the property where practicable.

24.3 Please notify us in writing as soon as reasonably practicable, preferably within seven (7) days of delivery. For damage discovered later, contact us promptly after discovery. This request helps investigation and is not an automatic deadline barring a claim or restricting statutory rights.

24.4 Claims should include:

  • customer's name
  • removal date
  • address
  • description of damage
  • photographs

supporting evidence where available.

24.5 Kingdom Removals Ltd reserves the right to inspect damaged items before repairs are undertaken.

24.6 Where reasonably possible, allow us a reasonable opportunity to inspect before repair or disposal, and keep relevant packaging, photographs and receipts. Take reasonable steps to prevent further loss. Urgent safety measures or necessary repairs may proceed; document the condition and costs where practicable and notify us promptly. Repair before inspection does not automatically invalidate a claim, although loss of evidence may affect our ability to assess it fairly.

25. Storage Services

25.1 Storage Arrangements

Where storage is requested, Kingdom Removals Ltd arranges secure containerised storage using an independent third-party storage facility.

The storage containers are rented by Kingdom Removals Ltd from the storage facility, and all storage operations are managed by Kingdom Removals Ltd on behalf of the Customer.

The Customer's contract for storage is with Kingdom Removals Ltd and not directly with the storage facility.

25.2 Storage Facility

Although Kingdom Removals Ltd remains responsible for the storage service provided to the Customer, the storage containers are housed within secure premises owned and operated by an independent third-party storage provider.

Kingdom Removals Ltd pays the storage provider for container rental, site security and any applicable insurance relating to the storage facility.

25.3 Storage Charges

Storage charges will be invoiced by Kingdom Removals Ltd in accordance with the quotation or any subsequent written agreement.

Charges continue until the Customer provides reasonable written notice that storage is no longer required and all outstanding balances have been paid.

25.4 Access to Stored Goods

Access to stored goods is available by prior appointment only.

For security reasons, Customers must not enter storage containers without the agreement of Kingdom Removals Ltd.

Where access requires handling or movement of containers by the storage facility, additional charges may apply.

25.5 Liability During Storage

Kingdom Removals Ltd shall exercise reasonable care when transporting goods into and out of storage.

Whilst goods remain in storage, Kingdom Removals Ltd will take reasonable steps to ensure that the third-party storage provider maintains appropriate standards of security and care.

However, Kingdom Removals Ltd shall not be liable for loss or damage arising from events beyond its reasonable control, including fire, flood, theft, vandalism, vermin, structural defects or other incidents occurring at the storage facility, except where such loss or damage results directly from the negligence or breach of contract of Kingdom Removals Ltd.

25.6 Insurance

The storage facility maintains insurance arrangements relating to the storage operation. Customers are responsible for ensuring that the value of goods placed into storage is adequately insured. Additional insurance may be available upon request, subject to the insurer's terms and conditions.

26. Cancellation

26.1 Customers may cancel their booking by providing written notice.

26.2 Cancellation charges may apply as follows:

More than 14 days before removal – Deposit refunded unless otherwise agreed.

Between 10 and 14 days – Deposit retained.

Less than 10 days – Up to 50% of the removal charge.

Less than 48 hours – Up to 100% of the removal charge where labour and vehicles have already been committed.

26.3 Costs already incurred including:

  • packing materials
  • permits
  • accommodation
  • subcontractors
  • ferry bookings

remain payable.

27. Postponement

Where a Customer requests a change of removal date, Kingdom Removals Ltd will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the request.

If labour or vehicles have already been allocated, reasonable administration or rebooking charges may apply.

28. Force Majeure

Kingdom Removals Ltd shall not be liable for delays or failure to perform resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control including but not limited to:

  • severe weather
  • flooding
  • storms
  • snow
  • road closures
  • accidents
  • industrial disputes
  • government restrictions
  • terrorism
  • war
  • epidemic or pandemic
  • utility failures
  • ferry cancellations

mechanical breakdown despite reasonable maintenance.

Where such events occur we will use reasonable endeavours to complete the removal as soon as practicable.

29. Privacy and Data Protection

29.1 Kingdom Removals Ltd is committed to protecting your personal information and will process your data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and other applicable legislation.

29.2 We collect personal information only where necessary to provide our services. This may include:
